The Chourang idol is sitting in padmasana on wooden chouki or chourang.
The idols are handed made by Khare Arts in Pen. Pen is a hub for Ganesha Idol made from shadu clay. It is basically made up of Red Soil, Organic Fertilizers, Natural Colors and Seeds that will transform Ganesha Murti into a Tree. Just by changing the material used to create the idol, they managed to change the way people looked at immersions during the festival. To complete the immersion ritual, all we need is a sprinkle of water and the best part is, it can be done in one's own backyard instead of being carried to a water body. Every year 8-10 lacs idols are made & distributed across India & abroad. The speciality of pen idol is its dhyan ( idol face ), eyes filled with compassion , proportionate sculpture.. colours used are also water soluble prepared with gum , and other additives.
